Over the last 4 years, I have actively represented residents to make sure that their voices are heard when planning applications have been submitted locally.
A planning application was submitted to build 60 dwellings on the great field opposite Seaview Avenue. I have actively opposed this application and called it in to the planning committee in the event of planning officers wanting to approve the application.
A planning application was submitted to build up to 6 dwellings north of Harwich Road. I opposed this application and it was refused by TDC. This has protected the views of residents opposite and prevented over development of a small rural village.
Great Oakley Airfield Prior to being elected, I pledged to oppose any further expansion of Great Oakley airfield. I therefore challenged the operation of helicopters and a flight training school which were both operating without planning permission. As a result of this two retrospective planning applications were submitted for these. I strongly opposed both of these applications and called them into the Planning Committee. Unfortunately, both of these applications were approved by TDC. However, I was able to ensure that significant planning conditions were attached to these approvals. These planning conditions severely restricted the use of helicopters and flight training and meant that residents being adversely affected by the these activities prior to planning permission being granted would see a vast reduction in disturbance to them following the approval as the planning conditions would enable enforcement action to be taken if the conditions were breached.
